God Is King over All the Earth

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of (A)the Sons of Korah.

47 (B)Clap your hands, all peoples!
    (C)Shout to God with loud songs of joy!
For the Lord, the Most High, (D)is to be feared,
    (E)a great king over all the earth.
He (F)subdued peoples under us,
    and nations under our feet.
He chose our (G)heritage for us,
    (H)the pride of Jacob whom he loves. Selah

God (I)has gone up with a shout,
    the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.
Sing praises to God, sing praises!
    Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
For God is (J)the King of all the earth;
    sing praises (K)with a psalm![a]

God (L)reigns over the nations;
    God sits on his holy throne.
(M)The princes of the peoples gather
    as the people of the God of Abraham.
For (N)the shields of the earth belong to God;
    he is highly exalted!

  1. Psalm 47:7 Hebrew maskil

At once (A)I was in the Spirit, and behold, (B)a throne stood in heaven, with one seated on the throne. And he who sat there had the appearance of (C)jasper and carnelian, and around the throne was (D)a rainbow that had the appearance of an emerald. Around the throne were (E)twenty-four thrones, and seated on the thrones were twenty-four elders, (F)clothed in white garments, with (G)golden crowns on their heads. From the throne came (H)flashes of lightning, and rumblings[a] and peals of thunder, and before the throne were burning (I)seven torches of fire, (J)which are the seven spirits of God, and before the throne there was (K)as it were a sea of glass, like crystal.

And around the throne, on each side of the throne, are (L)four living creatures, (M)full of eyes in front and behind:

And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw (A)a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and with (B)seven eyes, which are (C)the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. And he went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who was seated on the throne. And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders (D)fell down before the Lamb, (E)each holding a harp, and (F)golden bowls full of incense, (G)which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang (H)a new song, saying,

“Worthy are you to take the scroll
    and to open its seals,
for (I)you were slain, and by your blood (J)you ransomed people for God
    from (K)every tribe and language and people and nation,
10 and you have made them (L)a kingdom and priests to our God,
    and they shall reign on the earth.”

11 Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering (M)myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice,

(N)“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might
and honor and glory and blessing!”

13 And I heard (O)every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying,

“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!”

14 And the four living creatures (P)said, “Amen!” and the elders (Q)fell down and worshiped.

15 (A)his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and (B)his voice was like the roar of many waters. 16 (C)In his right hand he held seven stars, (D)from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and (E)his face was like the sun shining (F)in full strength.

17 (G)When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But (H)he laid his right hand on me, (I)saying, “Fear not, (J)I am the first and the last, 18 and the living one. (K)I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and (L)I have the keys of Death and Hades. 19 (M)Write therefore (N)the things that you have seen, those that are and those that are to take place after this.

And I saw (A)what appeared to be a sea of glass mingled with fire—and also those (B)who had conquered the beast and its image and (C)the number of its name, standing beside the sea of glass (D)with harps of God in their hands. And they sing (E)the song of Moses, (F)the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying,

(G)“Great and amazing are your deeds,
    O Lord God the Almighty!
(H)Just and true are your ways,
    O King of the nations![a]
(I)Who will not fear, O Lord,
    and glorify your name?
For you alone are (J)holy.
    (K)All nations will come
    and worship you,
for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
